the point at which the step creates the "edge" can not handle the full weight of the boat, if it does, it will hook or deform over time.... no good. |

Ok ive only had experience with an AO cat ..dont think the hull stepped up ..

Wasnt there a Teagues on tech answer in a recent Powerboat mag saying that the bottom would return to its original shape once properly supported on a correct stepped trailer?

Nort, I would have them mod your bunks. They can do it pretty easy by attaching some 2x4s to the aft of your bunks, with deep countersunk screws and carpeted of course. My first boat had the boat hanging off the back of the bunks of the trailer, which is not good either.

Ya learn sumthin new every day :drink: Id definatley build up the bunks another reason i like cats.... much easier, although i do make sure that my sponsoons and tunnel are both supported and not just one..... and my sponsons have steps, maybe it isn't easier afterall.... :eek: |

I used lumber and screwed together 3 piece in a l_l shape, turned it over and placed them on the rear section of the 2-bunks. The high and dry let me do this because I did not have to drill holes into there bunk so when I left there bunks were good as new.

There are many schools of thought on this subject as we have discussed it with boat builders and "experts in the industry". Everyone here so far has given good advice. If you care about the boat, follow their advice. I have seen boats that when you out a straight edge on them you can see light through the other side. The same boat also has funky water pressure on that motor. Glass returning to its shape once placed on a trailer, never heard one boat builder agree with that statement.
