The new speed record?

Reggie raised the speed record by 17 mph last time. When Fountain and Outerlimits meet this year, what do you think the new record will be when the smoke clears, and by whom?

Reggie is one bad ass man.I think it is gonna be interesting this time around.I think it will be close between F and OL this time.I think the new number will make a lot of jaws drop too.

look at reggies run i don't think i have ever seen them run a v with the bow that high i looked like it was gona blow over but that thing was on a string and flying

Pantera1 01-16-2005 06:01 PM

Re: The new speed record?

Watching that nose high video of reggie making his last run ..I could just picture the inevitable chine walk ..But it seemed to fly unusually well for a deep V

No chine walking when 2 inches of boat is touching the water.

I watched the video when I got home and believe me, while it was great, it was nothing like watching that boat literally fly by. There was a tangible excitement in the air and you could feel the vibration of the horsepower all the way down to your toes. As I said standing on the pier so early that morning, there is nothing like the sound of horsepower in the morning!

The echo of that coming down the river is unbelievable. It litterally rattles the whole town of Washington.

Not fair. You have too many steps :D

Re: The new speed record?

My best guess is that the panache' of breaking the 200 mph barrier in a V-Bottom is out there and close to possibly becoming reality. Reggie is 23mph away from doing it in a one way pass. My feeling is that it is not a priority at this moment. But who knows.

Same thing I thought. It reminded me of a bass boat blowing by at 85mph. (but dam# those things are fun to drive.)

It was nice to see the run, but could they please turn off that STUPID music, so we can hear the engines. :(

Is Outerlimits still using Sterling power? I thought I read Racecrafters was going to supply the engines?

Re: The new speed record?

The rumor is Reggie has already been above 180 ,But he has a new longer hull for the next round. I figure 189-193mph.

Just think if they hit a wake at those speeds  .

Mike has a little kid now to think about,is it worth it?

Re: The new speed record?

Just curious...
The Pamlico is a river. Anyone know if there is any substantial current running down the river? That might explain how one of his record passes was higher than the other

Re: The new speed record?

Awesome boats and an awesome run & record, but if they keep this up someones gonna get killed, and that will be a shame & a great loss to the powerboating community.
