If you wax your boat on the trailer you cant wax where the bunks are anyways, so I dont see it being in any danger of slipping off the trailer. I've had my boat slide back 6 or 8 inches when my winch broke. I think if you dont make sure your safety equipment is in order (winch, strap, chain on the bow eye, strap in the back) that would be more dangerous than waxing.
Everyone has a different theory on waxing, I do it for the help keep the water spots off because the bottom of my boat is blue and water spots stand out on it.
I dont see any other advantage to waxing it, if my boat was white I probably wouldn't waste my time.
Never tried Starbright though, do they sell it at West Marine?

I didn't have it on the trailer when I waxed it, I would think it would be a huge waste of time trying to do it on the trailer.

I have bought it at Boater World...I'm sure West has it too!
Starbright ON/OFF about $12.00 a bottle. (which should last 6-8 cleanings) Do not use this stuff on the top. I try to stop a few inches above the water line. Also, I cut it in water 25/75 water.

Dont wax your bottom !! Its bad luck ..its like waxing the tread of your tires ..

In my opinion, for what it’s worth. Wax the bottom of the boat but don’t touch the running surface. In most boats this would be from the bottom outer corners of the transom and say about 8’ (give or take) forward center on the hull on a 30’ boat. This would make a triangle shaped pattern, This is the running surface that your hull rides on. In my opinion feel free to wax any other part of the hull to keep it clean. I choose to scuff the running surface with 600 grit. No one can see it on or off the trailer but as for everything forward of it I choose to wax to keep the Hudson River scum off the bottom. If I don’t wax I have to clean the hull every time I pull the boat out. If I do wax I clean it once a month.

Our (detailing) customers are about 50/50 on this topic. Depends on where you run and how bad the bottom gets, I suppose. Doesn't appear to make too much difference in speed. If you're not racing (where every split second counts), it's not a bad idea.
