Skip the wax and just keep the hull in the air as much as possible :p

I have been using the works tub and tile clearer on prop and tips and go 50/50 with water on hull to get rid of the hard water stains but i keep mine on a left all boating season
and wipe it down when i put it up on the left when done.

And I always wondered, if you took the same size dimples as are on a golf ball and molded them into the bottom of a boat, what would happen!? I had a knee board that had dimples in the bottom and the reason was to prevent suction and give you a better release from the water for jumps and so on. Is there a reason that this would not work on a large scale, like a boat? :)

I find it hard to believe that people can report a noticable gain or loss with or without wax. Who's boat runs the same exact speed (gps) every time they do a high speed run? I know mine doesn't. There are too many other variables involved. I can be + or - 1-2 MPH on any day.

I don't wax the bottom. Too much trouble, too little benefit. After the weekend I clean the bottom with Starbright hull cleaner, hose it off and that's it. My gelcoat does not retain any stains.

When I wax the sides of the boat I notice after a few runs the part of the side that is in contact with the water is no longer beading the water. I don't think ANY wax lasts very long in the areas of the hull that have direct high speed contact with the water.

Want to gain speed? Wet sand the bottom with 600 sand paper.

You are probably right if you are talking about salt water. In fresh water, the wax stays on for weeks,if not months.

Some racers use to have their bottom sprayed with a primer and then wet sand it, and that was it..... When we raced up on the Great Lakes there were a few boats that had this done to the bottom.

Also they say if you polish your lowers on your drives it slows you down, but it looks so good most people don't care!!! Some race lowers are satin (un-polished) as well......
