Northern Michigan Fun Run 2005

Hey Scott!!!whats the plan? I need dates for time off soon, anyone in Michigan or surrounding area should check it out we have participated the last couple years and had a blast! The best way to see Northern Lake Michigan with people that know the way around. Last year we ended up in Charlevoix for Venetian festival what a great event best $50 run around.
See you there!
Don

I don't know about a date for this year but I am still waiting on a copy of the aerial photograph that was taken when we were all rafted in Round Lake. Get off your arse Scott!!! Hey wait a minute, I know, you don't get your motors back until we get our photos.

If anyone know when the Boyne thunder run is also it would be greta to know that date, it was the best poker run we did all year and they raised huge money for a great charity. Steve

Steve
Was was so good about the run, if I remember it was pricey, but they said it was going to be top notch. If I recall there were not to many boats in it either. I am curious how it went. Thanks Donna

Re: Northern Michigan Fun Run 2005

Donna it was $600 per boat for the Boyne Run almost half the cost of "fog on the water" and they donated twice as much to charity!

Yes and no, by that I mean SOTW was $1,000.00 but that was for 4 people. The cost of the other run covered only 2 people. Having the mondo condo BT we try to pack as many in and then divide everything up, for LEOPA we had 8

Dyno,

Thanks for the Poker Run update. The Fountain couple have a new member to the family... which is a 47' triple engine beaker in place of the twin engine 42. Have not heard him say that he has planned on donating to anything other than the gas docks. Only 4 1/2 months till summer! The wife and I are getting a break at the Miami Boat Show in February.

Stay in touch.

Later,
Tracy

Well, Big YELLA and the Screamin' Banana will be there FOR SURE this year for the Northern Fun Run. I know, I know, you'll all believe it when I show up! I would actually like to try and do both events this year----the Northern Fun Run and The Boyne Thunder Run. I still have yet to do some boating up there as I have always desired over all these years. The Grand Traverse area, Charlevoix, Elk Lake/Torch Lake, Indian River, Petosky, etc. are all areas I want to do more and more boating in even though I have never been up there with my boat yet.

Indian River...

The Boyne Thunder Run was so great based on the people who were there and the towns people and the people that put on the event as welll as the location and the food. I which the chicago run was a differnt weekend but I can skip seeing sky scrapers over the northern waters. Hopefully I will have a new ride for the up coming season. Steve

Anytime you guys get up here, I would love to boat with OSOers in my neck of the woods. This Fun Run sounds like a riot!!! We spend the Venitian festival rafted in Round lake. About 10-12 boats. Sounds like I have been hanging out with you guys and not even knowing it.

That trip is Great!!Mackinac Island is only 15 miles(nice ride).
The inland Lakes are really nice. I go there about 3 times a year. My business is in Gaylord so it is an easy run.

Hey
The Chicago Poker Run on July 22-23 is the same weekend but sponsorship will allow us to offer a price of $395 for 2 and $75 for each additional. COPS board of directors is hosting the run with ???. We are working with the Resorts Casino to make this event grand. All proceeds go to the Children's Memorial Hospital.

Hey, any of you guys know where some nice places to stay are up there on Lake Chalevoix for the Venitian Fest/North Michigan Fun Run? I was thinking of possibly staying at the Shoreline Resort Motel in East Jordan on the South Arm of Lake Charlevoix. The Shoreline Resort Motel is right on the water with 30' finger docks available. However, I am open to other places to stay. It doesn't necessarily have to be on the water, but close by where I can park my boat at a near by marina or something. Anywhere around the lake is fine.

Anyway, I would like to know of some locations as I think it would probably be a good idea to make reservations now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What a beautiful place it is up there. Here's shot I took last summer of the Charlevoix City launch ramp.

Don this thread got a little confusing and I just caught this, the COPS poker run is NOT the same weekend as the fun run

COPS and Boyne Thunder are on the same weekend
Fun Run is the following weekend

Ian and I are doing the COPS PR and there is a good chance we will make the fun run also. As Poker Runs go the COPS one will be on of the more affordable ones. $395.00 is for two and it includes dinners, breakfasts, lunch and two nights dockage. The events are taking place at Harrahs resort so that should be nice.

Kaama, There is the Sleep Inn just north of Charlevoix on 31 and I believe it is called an Amerihost Inn (brand new last summer) another mile passed the Sleep Inn on 31 toward Petosky. They both have some room to put trailers. Stayed at the Sleep Inn many times over the years and would park the boat and trailer next to the fence on the east side. Hope this helps! Wink
