I liked the one at the auto show with a polished stainless hood. Don't know what model it was, but was pretty cool as long as I don't have to keep it clean.

I'm kind of partial to the 1918 20-20............ :D ... Back when the suspension was all needle bearings with a central oiling system.... Mechanical power brakes.... Syncromesh transmission.......... :D

Re: What's Your Favorite Rolls Royce?

None. I've always hated them (And Bentleys.) The front end on that new Phantom borders on making me ill.
Years ago when I was an installer, we used to get them in the shop pretty often for audio upgrades. At the time, Rolls thought it was acceptable to give you the same POS Delco radio as you would get in a Pontiac.
Even if I won mega-lottery $$, I wouldn't even consider one.

We have a 1946 Silver Wraith open chauffeur compartment limo, and I will try to post pictures if I can find some. It's not my favorite model but it's been in the family for a long time. This car is way ahead of its time technology wise.

Those wheels are pitiful. I am not saying that they should be huge and chrome but those belong on the dodge magnum. Thats what they look like to me. The car is cool but not my taste.

Anyone know of a limo service that has a ride like that? I thought about it one time, but dont think at about a grand an hour their would be many takers in the Tampa/St. Pete area. Now maybe Miami,New York and L.A.
You sure would have a niche in the market around here.

Go ahead and talk to any old 8th AAF bomber crews and they'll agree on the Merlin. They were probably partial to the Wright Cyclone and Pratt&Whitney radials out on the wings but the thread is about RR.
www.b17sam.com/
The cars may be nice but there's nothing like the sound of the Merlin-powered Mustang coming across the airfield at 300 knots, ten feet off the runway.

Does anyone remember when the hydros were running the Merlins and Allisons?
Miss Budweiser ran Merlins before switching to the turbines.

That's ok. Your car manufacturer is probably using a supplier that also supplies parts to Rolls Royce so it's all in the family.

I don't remember which model was used... The big models were the Phantoms... P I's P II's P III's. By the time they got to the P V and P VI's, ( The P IV was stictly a "royalty car" and wasn't available to the public) they just looked like stretched Silver Clouds. Unless you ordered one with a James Young Body. Or some other custom coach builder... But... above all.... THEY'RE STILL ENGLISH LEAKERS!............ :D

The last Rolls Royce I liked was the 1960s model with the twin nested headlights on either side of the grill, totaling four. Silver Cloud I think. Even bought a dinky toy metal model of it when I was a kid. I had good taste in toys! <gg>

I collect model cars and still have that one in silver. :D

Also worked for a bit at Grand Touring Automobiles authorized Rolls dealer in Ontario/Toronto. Ended up working/managing a pre-owned dealer, owner collected and liked having RR's around at one point we had 15 in storage at a warehouse. For driving late 80's Spirit, Bentley Turbo R and liked the Seraph. Left before the Phantom came out. I hated driving our Silver Shadow's or the pig of a car Camargue.

My fav. for looks and used one as my take home ride; 1990 Corniche III, at clubs and other places if scene in that car instant respect. I wanted to check out the new at the time C5 Vette and one Chev dealer had one hidden in their garage. Walked in the showroom wearing T-shirt and shorts, looked like a bum and the sales guy treated me like one. The Vette is only shown to serious/known customers and the brochure's are just for those people as well, least that's what the sales jack off told me! The guy followed me outside and as soon as he spots that I'm driving the Corniche, he races over to offer not only a peak at the new Vette, a test drive. said: "sorry I've decided on a Ferrari" and drove off!!!!!

Does this have anything to do with your user name? :D

Took my cousins two kids to Disney World, staying at the Sheraton Four Points became awsome when Crazyhorse passed over the pool! Ended up at the Kissimmee airport for most of the trip (also Hooters up the street), did the intro flight and the Merlin sounds even better from inside the cockpit! :D

Ha ha, good story about the dealership. I believe one of the Beatles drove a Rolls right through a dealership window when faced with a similar sales goof, then said "I'll take it, fix the scratches and sweep up the broken glass."
