I am re-striping my 86 Wellcraft Nova and would like to know the best way to remove the original 4" wide pinstripe tape on the hull without damaging the gel coat.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

heat gun on low "LOW" or a hair dryer on high. you can test your heat gun on a piece of electrical tape.. if it bursts into flames its way to hot.
I did a bunch of this tape removel and the key is to to do a foot or two at a time
keep the heatgun moving never hold it in one spot. I then used some goo gone on any residue, cleaning as a went along to remove the goo gone.

21 and 42 footers

Removed 270 ft of stipping on a cruiser with a heat gun and a smooth metal edged putty knife. Came back with acetone/ paint thinner to remove glue (get the thinner off after done!)
