I bought the Flightcom 403 on ebay for $127, everything comes into a 25 pin connector so I can pull the unit from the boat when I don't need it. I ordered an Avcomm child's headset for my son and I'm looking at the Featherlight headsets, will probably buy 5 of them and get myself the Bose headset.
Softcomm also makes a nice unit.

I have used these and the throat mic is really nice. There is not external noise like wind or engine noise, just voices. I have used other setups where you are fighting the wind to talk.

Re: Best Headsets
I have the Revolution Marine headsets with throat mics too. They are great. The mics are always hot, no voice switching, no missing words, no wind noise, but no stereo in headset, just mono and I have all my alarms wire into the system.
