Jordy,

There used to be a guy on here that did surveys for free, but I think he had a deal go bad for him.. I hear that now you can get a survey done in exchange for a presidential Rolex or an Enzo Ferrari.... :drink: :drink:

I paid for mine up front and got a rotted boat. on a structurally sound survey. By Patrica Kears of Recreational Marine Expert Group.

Re: Boat surveys

Be careful with surveys. You have good ones like Coz and you have bad ones, but from a legal perspective 99% of all surveys call for visual inspection and the surveyor takes no liability their contracts.

Bottom line is get a surveyor from a referal (then go into detail about what you want) AND get a basic engine survey!!!! At least check compression, do a visual inspection and drop some lower unit lube. I usually charge 1-2 hrs per engine and drive and I can tell you of at least 2 deals that went south for the right reasons last year.

I can't understand why someone who was working for YOU and protecting YOUR interests would not get paid, wait... could it be someone from the Scott Sumrall school of business ethics?
No, Scott says in his illiterate answer in the Bad Business section that he's had no trouble with anyone before Tres and I were on the scene. I guess he only pays the surveyor if he BUYS the boat.
