Boat Measuring

Does Anyone Know How Fountain Measures There Boats? What Would The Overall Length Be On A 35 Lightning, As In Back Of The Rub Rail To The Front Nose?

Re: Boat Measuring

Oh Boy, here we go again with the Fountain length thing.

I'm sure Reggie includes every inch of the beak and every 1/4 inch of the rubrail thickness. :p

If your shop is too short, cut a 10" diameter hole in the wall and cover it on the outside with a highway cone. That'll gain ya almost 2 feet of Fountain storage space. :D :D

Re: Boat Measuring

It's sort of like the penis length measurement. where do you start measuring from ?
Actually my 32' does measure 32' from front tip to end of swim platform.

The dimension I'd question is draft with drive down. I think it's more than 35".

Re: Boat Measuring

Racer,
A 35' Fountain on a Myco will fit in a 40' garage. You have to allow for the trailer tongue and drives. Generally, you'll need to add 4' to the hull length for LOA including the trailer.
Exceptions would be goosenecks or swingaways, or Arnesons.
Regards,
Steve

Guys:
Maybe I DO have a crystal ball!
As soon as I saw this thread I knew what was going to happen! You guys are the funniest guys and I can't wait to meet you in person Thursday night at the Clevelander.

When the drives are down aren't they under the swim platform?

Reggie adding that beak and counting the swim platform BEFORE it was mandated in 1991 was one of the best marketing tools in the boat business. I sold new Fountains before the steps were added and they were 8-10 MPH faster than the competition with equal power BACK THEN!

inside rub rail to inside rub rail... drives only count if you are going to dry store it
