Re: A word about Lip-Ship Marine.....
One of the best trips that I have ever had was when Biggus and I went down to Phills towing Spine Tickler. He took great care of us and even though it was not our boat treated us very well. That was the trip that was the begining of the end for Biggus, and it was the boats in the shop that got kurt thinking one thing....... "My wife says that if I get a job when I get home I can buy a Top Gun" I still hear it every time that I think of that trip and Phills place. We had a blast, were well taken care of and we some his crew do some real quality work. From what I understand he just did some work on a friend of mines boat and it is I am sure going to be as good as new. No doubt about it that he knows what he is talking about.

Re: A word about Lip-Ship Marine.....
plain and simple we go with the people that make an impression on us, or go out of their way to make us feel comfortable with the sale or work being done. im with the martins. everything involved with my cafe racer has been a great experience, from the silly questions, to the sea trail, from glen martin to tres and jacky. no matter who you call for whatever reason its nothing but help for anything you need. when you dont get the martins on the phone, you get get scott smith or craig barrie. those guys know one or two things about boats.
the sad thing is the re not very many good people left in the business. we are the ones lucky enough to have equipment taken care of by people like the martins, and phil. we might pay a little more than others but peace of mind and not missing much of the summer is whats important to me. |

Re: A word about Lip-Ship Marine.....
Tank,
I had been looking at a Sonic for sale near my office for a few weeks. Finally I stopped by during lunch and gave the Sales Manager my final offer, which he accepted, a deposit. He claimed that he would take care of the paperwork and I could drop back at 4:00 with the cashiers check and get the boat and title. When I got back to work I told a few buddies that had been helping me shop that I finally "pulled the trigger" and it was finally mine. About 2 hours later a buddy called me and said that there was a boat just like mine on the interstate heading North. He pulled up beside it and claimed that it was identical to "MY" boat. I asked him to check out the back of the boat and tell me if anything looked funny ... he said nothing other than the left prop was missing. At this point I realized that he was not pulling my leg as the left prop had been stolen the night before. I immediately drove to the dealer and he was apologizing and told me that his sales guy had taken a deposit that morning and he was just not aware of it when he accepted mine. I later learned that he used my offer against another potential buyer and they offered more AFTER he had already accepted my offer and deposit. I could not prove what he had done and let it die. I understand what you mean when you say it is not yours until you have it home. Good luck. |
