Does anyone know what it costs for the extended warranty for the motors and drives?

There is no extended warranty for the 525. Just the 1 year Limited for recreational use along with a 5 year limited on corrosion. Dave

but i did hear of one compamy about 3-4 years ago that was going to get into it... something like unlimited hours of one year (pleasure only) but the cost to cover two 500 blue mercs was like 18k.. about the total cost of a motor.. but don't think the company sells them anymore

You might want to check with Marc Blondin (Boatme on OSO) as I know he was getting into extended warranty.

I could offer you a 5 year warranty through Brunswick Product Protection that covers the motors and drives. It is unlimited hours, $25 deductible per occurrence and transferable to the new owner should you sell your boat - a HUGE selling factor. There are a couple upgrade options that would affect the price so email me at [email protected] or call me at 866-NEWCOAST x46 and I would be happy to price it out for you. Sorry, no triple motor applications. I have this policy on my 500EFI's.

I had extended 5 year Passport on my HP500EFI Brunswick offered it too. Initially it was not offered for the 525EFI. As the above post indicates, it appears to be available now.

I heard that Passport offers an additional 4 years of warranty now for the 525's.

That is correct. Passport and Passport Premiere are the name of the programs offered. Brunswick Product Protection is the administrator. Brunswick purchased the program last year from Marine Innovations. Coverage and claims processing is very good not to mention the resale value of a warranty on a performance boat should you decide to sell or trade.
