I have been looking at both myself and like the quick cleat idea the best.
But one dumb question here.
They do appear to be just like a thru hull fitting when the male part is out. Is there any back or cap on the end of them to keep water from getting inside your boat when you wash it, or your in high seas?
That's assuming there is a hole all the way through them.
If there is a cap do they hold water?

No, there is no end cap. They go all the way through. Dock, I have a 33 Outlaw and mounted them verticaly on the deck sides not horizontially on the deck tops. I can't imagine they take on too much, if any water. In any case, the rear ones are open to the bilge the front ones are very high. On the outlaw the fronts are above the fuel intake on the port and above the middle cleat on the stbd side.Sorry, I have no pics as boat is in storage.
