I do more than the small stuff but am limited with resources when it comes to pulling the motors. New long blocks last winter, I swapped all the parts , cleaned , painted , got em running. Paid someone to install motors , transoms , and drives. One threw a rod after like 20 hours, Mercury picked up the bill so I let the marina do that one and went to the beach! My best friend is a trained merc tech and service mgr at a marina and that helps with the tech info too! Couldn't get anyone to do my interior last season so now I do that too! Took some training , bought an industrial sewing machine and made all the new covers. No winter projects on the boat this year or i'm single! Sounds like there are a lot of women jealous of a boat!

It depends on how busy I am at work. If I'm busy, I figure I make more what I do, and let the shop do what they do. Right now, I'm dead at work, and I'm swapping the exhaust in Deb's 22.

I do everything except clean the boat. By the time I get done with each of the projects, I don't feel like cleaning anything. I wish that I could afford to pay somebody to do it all for me, but I know that I wouldn't let anybody else put a wrench on it anyways. It just seems like every time (very few) I have let someone else work on something for me, I've wound up disappointed with the work. I can't even leave my car to get tires replaced without keeping an eye on them to see what they are doing. Half of the time they end up getting at least one tire on backwards.
