Should offshore powerboating be a family event?
For quite some time now, our neice has been living with us at our home. Great girl, she's like another daughter to my wife and I. Over the winter, we have been playing alot of offshore poker run DVD's, along with our club DVD's that we had filmed over the last few years. So, she gets to see ALOT of boating that we do, but yet, she has never been on a powerboat, not even ours.
A few weeks ago, she had some of her friends from work stop by to pick her up to go to work. The next day, she asked me if it would be alright with me, if she could invite a few of her friends from work out with us when the weather gets nice, and we do the Lake Mighigan"Chicago poker runs". Well, gee, I don't know, she's never been on a fast boat before, and I'm not really sure if she and her friends will like it. I told her that I'll have to think about it, but it'd probably be OK.
The only problem now is that every week, she's inviting more & more of her "work related friends out on our boat. Now they ALL want to come on our Chicago Poker run, and I don't know how to limit how many friends she can bring.
Can anyone here post some ideas on how to make all her friends feel invited? I'd really hate to deny anyone from attending our event, but, there's only soo much room in our boat. Her list of friends is getting way too long, and the problem is that every week when she introduces us to more of her co-workers, and tells them about the event, they ALL ask if they can ride with us.
Oh did I mention that our niece works for Miller brewery Co.? And yes, she is one of the 100 Miller girs here in Chicago doing many of the promotions for Miller Lite.

Frank, limiting is easy. Yours and Lois's seats are reserved. That leaves at the most 4 more. I would prefer only 3.
Then again, it might depend on how many of her co-workers are Miller girls and how much beer they bring.
See you in 2 weeks!

I would limit her to 1 friend, and take them out before the run, to see how they handle it. Of course if she has invited the other 99 Miller girls, Make room!

I second that about the miller girls, as I'm a miller light guy...oh and single too..hint hint.
Seriously though I would sit down and run over the rules with her, say that she is allowed to bring one maybe two friends, BUT, they stay on the dock if there is someone that you want to bring. Secondly she needs to respect the rules of the captain. As far as the poker run itself, tell them for safety reasons you can only have a certain amount of people on your boat, nothing personal just being safe. Her true friends will respect it and it will weed out the bad ones...my .02...Rob (still single and have boat will travel)

Steve... I know you have plenty of room, and I think that your offer will be accepted. But, my niece Lynnette wants to ride with us. You know who she is, Steve.
Here's another pic. The one with the short hair is also a Playboy playmate. She showed me her portfolio.
