I switched motors from the 260HP 4 bbl to the 300Mpi, and my wife even noticed that we lost the cool 4bbl sound. If I put on a K&N filter system (if they make one), would I gain some of this intake sound back? My buddy just put one in his 01 chevy siverado with the 5.3, and it sounds awesome. I have the same truck with the stock filter. Where do I get this and what are the pro's and con's? Thanks, J.

well i dont know about changing the sound with an air cleaner, never heard that one

It gets a little louder, not much though. I had a set on mine.

It's probably due more to
the differences in the throttle
body and intake, than the flame
arrestor.

In a 2001 Chevy, there is a huge difference in sound between a stock air filter system, and a K&N system. That is what I was hoping for in the boat setup. Thanks for the replies. Justin
