Yeah, the combustion chambers were just cleaned up a little otherwise stock. We did pay quite a bit of attention to the quench, and the lower end machine work was excellent. Keep in mind that we ran the engine on shop headers, not the EMI's that it will see in the boat, but we did run it with the flame arrestor on. Actually the dyno's at Katech are known to be a little on the conservative side.
I zero decked mine too which gives me the .037 quench. Bore notched and unshrouded the valves and pocket port work. The big diff is my intake. I wish I could send one of mine up there to see the difference if any. I have no problem getting fuel in mine at wot, maybe the smaller carb and intake draws better? Wierd, my wot vacuum is under 1. Maybe next year I can make it to the dyno. Where did you set the ICL? I used to use 106 but went back to 110 this year. Seems to work better there with twins.

Great, it feels good to know Im going in the right direction sometimes. Just opened up drive #2. Think 45 degrees of gear backlash in the lower is too much? Wow, cant wait to open that up. I hope Mr. Gadgets can help me with the lower. I dont have setup tools for it yet.
