Here is the scenario:
1996 boat with 502EFI engines. Haven't gotten the serial #'s out to see if they are Gen V or VI. Bravo One drives. 382hrs on the hour meter. Previous owner said to be WOT all the time and it's obvious he never really took good care of anything.
I like the hull and it will do what I want ergonomically.
1-Given the purchase price is in line with needed repairs would you,
A) completely re-power with 496HO
B) rebuild the 502 with better parts to gain HP?
2- What would be the premium (ballpark) to be paid for the 496HO vs rebuilding the 502s.
3- If I rebuild the 502s how are the electronic accessories when it comes to wear and tear? Would I be looking at all kinds of computer problems associated with 10 year old stuff?
Thanks in advance to all who reply.

The shipping out is not bad, as the boats go north empty. The shipping back is the killer. All said about $700 RT per pallet.
I was thinking about the 496 MAG but a concern for return on investment came up. If I decide to sell this boat in a few years will I be way upside down? It looks like 40G to repower with all new engines and drives going with the 496HO and bravo.
I would rather not tie up a huge amount of money in the boat but..... I don't want to be penny wise pound foolish either. Therein lies the rub.
What would you think rebuilding and Checking out the electronics on the 502's would run?

Thanks that helps. I am leaning toward the overhaul option as a last resort. I think I'll wait until they chit the bit and then put in new long blocks or something.
I am fighting my inner bean counter just to buy this toy. I have been fortunate to be able to make about 3-4 dolars for every one I have in cash with diffrent deals in my life. It gets really hard to start calculating how much having an "asset" tie up 70k +++. I know most of you guys have huge amounts in your boats. I guess I am publically trying hard to justify this thing.
I am at the point where I just want to have some fun.
