Default Gear ration 1.35 vs 1.50

I have an 05 Executioner that I am installing 750 hp NA engine. Which gear ratio would you use and why.

Thanks for your comments!

What pitch props are you running?... what top speed are you looking for?... how heavy is the boat?... how important is a hole shot to you?...

That depends on drives, speed, & shiQ like that. Like Reed said.

All that info has yet to be determined. However as a 525efi boat it was geared 1.5 with 32 pitch props running 82. Now there is 775 hp and what ever in needed to get the speed out of it . I want to see 100. I was trying to understand when you would use a different ratio over the other.

Thanks
John

The higher gears are a little stronger (more tooth contact area) and will run a little cooler. Probably isn't worth switching if you have 1.50 already though.

just my .02 but you're about out of prop. I think the only way to get the speed and performance would be to switch the ratio.

Generally, you will get the best overall performance by staying with the 1.5:1 until you totally run out of available props (~37'). The real question is, what RPM do you plan on turning to get your 775 hp? If your motors can spin 5800 or more, you definitely can stay with the 1.5 setup, otherwise consider the swap. Make sure your drives are up to the task as well!

The engines are Sterling NA 775 hp with maximum Rpm of 5800. So we will try with the 1.5 and change if needed.

Thanks
