That sucks Ripley, is that a foam filled transom like my buddies Pachanga?

A wet stringer will also eat couplers if the motor mounts are lag bolted into the stringer. will cause the motor to move while applying torque. My father had this problem on an 83 sea ray.

Fork truck, tractor front loader, shade tree with chain hoist. Have done all three. Just remember it's about 800lbs dressed. an A frame or overhead rolling gantry is best.

Be careful

That sucks! I didn't mean to jinx you ,it,s just that I went through the same experience with a couple parasail boats i had and also found it to be pretty common on a lot of single engine cruisers that i was looking at buying.

It could be just a poor bond between the transom and hull down where they meet because the two areas were not layed up at the same time or there was not enogh overlap in the glass in this area.I have seen it where the transom is solid, it is just kicking in at the bottom below the outer drive plate because there is no glass overlapping up from the hull to hold the bottom of the transom in place. If so this is a fairly easy fix compared to replacing a rotted transom.Pull the drain plug assembly out and poke into the wood there and see what you have. What brand and size and year of boat do you have.

Re: why am i blowing clutches

shade tree worked well ,i m pissed at the machanic i pulled
out the motormount bolts by hand ALL four!!&didn t have a very hard time doing it ether they slid out like they were in butter  he didn't bother to say a word till after it happened again

i figured out that smile there is no glass on the back side at the drain plug .
the transom is about 3 inches thick untill about 2-3 inches
from the hull then it drops to a 1/4 inch & a real sloppy glass job i can stick my fingers right up in to the the transom

has anyone seen this issue in a searay before

thanks for all replies

Re: why am i blowing clutches

Ripley post some pictures if you can so we can see what your up against, but it does not sound good if the motor mount bolts came right out,and yes i have seen quite a few boats with that no glass at the drain plug sydrom.
