Change to a Bravo 1 drive and gimble assembly.

What clutch are you talking about?

they call it a clutch, resembles a tourqe converter made of rubber ,the out drive driveshaft inserts into it

That is a coupler, what exactly is failing on it?

Re: why am i blowing clutches

both times i was running about 38-4200 rpm and it was like
the prop fell off engine smoking of rubber engine temp rose
quikly they said it was the clutch cost me $1200 to yank the
engine & have it replaced the 2nd one lasted about 6 hrs
babying it

thanks for all replys

Re: why am i blowing clutches

If you're blowing couplers, you most likely have an engine alignment problem. Alignment should be checked whenever a coupler fails. This has nothing to do with the drive you're using.

Re: why am i blowing clutches

What Bowtie said.
You need to borrow mercruiser alignment tool and have someone show you how to use it. Sounds like your engine is shifting around. My coupler has been in there 12 years.
