Mufflers for 496 HO!Please Help!
Hello Everybody.
I am from Germany, so please excuse my worse english.
I am driving a Tullio Abbte with 2x 496 MAG HO.
This Boat is Running at the Bodensee, and there the rules say that the boat dont have to be louder than 75 DB.
I dont want to go down the XR with the Exhaust, because i dont want to lose so much power.
I need your help , because i search for mufflers they dont cost much power and make my boat quiet.
I hope you can help me.
Greetings from Germany

Re: Mufflers for 496 HO!Please Help!
RadPad ,
Your English is OK and we understand your question.
It will be difficult to get "through transom" exhaust with the 496 HO to be at a level of 75 DB.
However, adding mufflers to the exhaust tips may get you close to your noise level regulation on the Bodensee.
I am working on a similar problem, and have gotten some help from Fred at Trick Marine.

I am going with the new E Series muffler from Livorsi. It features progressive detentuation of muffling and back pressure that might bring you close to compliance. He can explain it more fully.
Good luck,

Re: Mufflers for 496 HO!Please Help!
I am closing in on the completion of a Raylar conversion of my 496 Mag HO.
I also added full hydraulic steering with the Bravo Shop extention box. That caused me to lose my Corsa Captain's Call switchable exhaust (thru hull or prop ).
So now I have just exhaust straight out the tips.
I am converting those tips to the Stainless Marine with internal flapper. They have a lifetime warranty.
Then after in -water performance testing and propping, the Livorsi E Series Mufflers will go on.
Will repeat performance tests. Then test with Decibel Meter.
I will post results.

senecadds,
This is an easy fix with the GGB Extreme series.
http://www.ggb.ca/
They work better than anything else on the market today. I have them in stock. Please call or email and I'll shoot you the OSO members price. As with all my other stock I'm not allowed to post my prices....
