Default Lake Travis Anchoring

Does anyone know the best type of anchor to use in Devils Cove? Our group kept drifting with all 5 boats anchored. Thanks a lot.

I have never been to your neck of the woods, but this anchor has NEVER let me down.

I have use a hooker anchor from academy with 6' of chain. Where I anchor it is about 20+ deep so I use about 40' of rope. Have not had a problem. When I anchor by Pace bend park I have a problem trying to get anchor to set there. I bought a box anchor so will see is that fixes my problem there.

I was thinking about one of the box anchors. Let me know how it works.

A Danforth anchor should work. Devil's Cove can be really tricky to get an anchor to hold. In the back, the lake bottom is solid rock so it's tough to get a hook. There are a couple of spots in the cove where the bottom topology makes getting a hook easier but I'm not giving away my anchoring secrets!

Just make sure to use a rode with a chain and let out lots of line - maybe 100' if you can.

So you are wanting these people that don't know to drift into YOU?

Well, I just want to save my favorite spot!

Okay, I'll let you in on what I know.

As you go back through the cove into the no wake zone there is a teeny "cove" or cut out in the left side (not the bigger cut outs on the right). Mentally draw a line across the cove at this litte cove on the left and drop anchor there. Drift back and let out 75-100' of line. You'll generally catch and stay caught all day.

Well, unless one of those people who doesn't know where to anchor drifts into you...
