Engine coupler

Anybody have an engine coupler slip and not get a burnt rubber smell out of the engine compartment?
I have one engine I can't hold back , the rpms go thru the roof. Switched the drive in question to eliminate the possiblity of cone clutch slipping. Also checked prop hub and ok. Ran left engine from idle to 3000 and the boat starts to take off, try the right one to 3000 rpm and got about half the reaction and sounded like it was cavitating.

HELP

Re: Engine coupler

It is possible to have the coupler going south with no smell. But you should be able to see some black rubber dust in the vicinity. You indicate you switched the drives from one side to the other, and the problem didn't change sides? Or you installed a totally different drive on one side?

I have a spare drive , if you know Bravos
Spare did same thing. Felt around the coupler while hanging over the engine , found one tiny piece of rubber on it less than 1/8 inch. Very hard to see down the back of my engines.

BTW it's white paint NOT white with black speckles :D Guess the ol' engine will be on the end of a chain again this week :(

I've never had the "pleasure" of buying multiple Bravo drives. I may be over in Pitman (Main & Laurel) tomorrow "supervising" my buddy and his Mustang. If I do, I'll give you a holler. I still have your # in my cell phone.

Just look for my a$$ up in the air over top the engine compartment :D :D :D

(if you have a strong stomach)

Re: Engine coupler

put it in gear on the trailer w/o the motor running :drink: see if you turn the drive by hand.

Re: Engine coupler

Good idea but I can't come close to the 680 ft lbs of torque from the engines and it is still turning the prop so it needs more than me to make it slip

Re: Engine coupler

we did one on a stinger and you could spin it by hand.
