It will be interesting to see if Mercury does the same thing and goes fully synthetic like Volvo is doing (hear that Mr. Teague ). Having me around just got you guys to use this kind of stuff sooner.

The 30 WT you are looking for is being phased out Capo..just an FYI a SAE 30wt Synthetic oil is equal to a 10W-30 oil. SO you will not get a true 30wt synthetic oil...and I know you will be thinking I am off bases but that is true...you can check here to see what I am talking about....do you really want a 10W-30 oil for your boat? I think not brother. That is for some types of diesels

I am not sure if Chevron will market their synthetic API-SJ oils in the USA as we seem to need API-SL oils for our OEMS.
My take is these oils are similiar to a Penzoil Synthetic. Generally good oils but we don't have much data on them yet as they are new and European formulations.
The following products are available from Volvo:
For Gas engines Volvo says to use Volvo Synthetic 15W-50
Part # 1141670.

Also still availavle 15W-50 Conventional Oil

Volvo also now has synthetic gear lube 75W-90.. GL-5
Part # 1141634

For diesels they still offer the same old conventional 15W-40
Part# 1141626

They offer a Synthetic Compressor oil I guess for air conditioners??

Looks like Volvo Penta beat Mercury to the punch with fully synthetic engine oil and gearlubes.

Just a little side not for future reference! Aside from being the ExxonMobil distributor of Indiana, we also have a Chevron contract, which isn't anything special. I do know though that ExxonMobil is in talks with Volvo because they bottle all of the over the road and construction equipment. They make all the HDMO, Gear and Trans. lubes for Volvo and Mack. Or as they are being called now VoMac. I would watch to see if the marine lubes aren't going to be moved over to ExxonMobil or watch to see if all the comercial lubes go to Chevron. It's fun to watch all of these companies move back and forth. Detroit and all Cat motor oils are bottled by Mobil.
The Mobil Delvac 1 Marine also meets and exceeds Volvo specs. The VDS-2 is an out of date test that isn't accurate anymore. Here is the marine and heavy duty comercial grades

Sounds interesting my friend!!
Finally we are seeing that the MYTH that you can not use synthetic oils in marine applications was a MYTH and not based on any factual information.
