Dumping the mufflers on a 496mag
#1
I'm thinking of taking off the mufflers on my 05 25' OL with 496mag and replacing with a set of tips. My question is, will I have to change anything else, or will the ECU have to be flashed for this change?
Thanks for any replies.

Shouldn't have to do a thing to the engine.. Just a warning tho, it will be loud, and it will be illegal. Tickets are no fun.
By the way, I just removed the tips off mine and installed mufflers. If you are interested, they are the angle cut tips with the flappers inside. They are Very nice shape. I would sell the 2 pairs (4 tips total) just to get them off my workbench for 150 bucks....

jonyb--put tips on my 04 25 Outlaw with an HO this year and you don't need to change anything else. Do you run on KY Lake? If you do then you know that you will not be louder than anyone else and I don't think there are noise restrictions there anyway.

I'm the only cracker with mufflers on the whole damn lake. The 46' Sonic with 575SC's does'nt have them, and the Water Patrol worships him.
Madmax: That's what I'm looking for, but I think I can buy them new for that.

I thought he had 1100's in that boat---anyway when he fires that thing up the whole quarry shakes so I don't think sound is an issue---the tips will make that boat sound 100X better.
When you buy the tips, do some checking as I bought the Eddie Marine tips and like them but at idle you can hear the flapper rattling--maybe they all do it.

You may be right about the 1100's, but whatever it's got, it's loud, and effective.
