Default 496 intake question

Is anyone making an aftermarket intake for the 496's so it can be changed over to a N/A motor instead of F/I

Not yet and there will probably never be one. I bet you found a Vortec Gen VIII out of a pickup like this one huh!

This motor has been converted to a 496HO exactly to Mercruisers specs. I was going to purchase the bad boy until i did the research on the motor. Unless you are going to replace your exisiting 496 ho i would stay away from this setup.

Remember this system uses a crank sensor for the distributor. i talked to Ray at Raylar and he basically talked me out of it, but also informed me that he had a customer I believe in Michigan who had a 496 (375HP) for sale pretty reasonably and then you can run a kit to bump the horsepower.

Save the engine for an RV should do fine.
