How to Guide: Changing you sea-water pump impeller
#11
now that you have the impeller in you align the keyway of the shaft with the impeller and put it together.
rotate the body around making sure you dont move the impeller in the wrong direction and align the bolt holes. Install all the bolts temporarily for now and heres where that bolt with the nut comes into play. Once you have eveything aligned, tighten the nut and bolt down and snug it up so the houseing doesnt move. you can take out the other bolts other then one dirctly opposite of the bolt you just tightned up......this keep the houseing in check for when you put it back on the bracket.

And that it!!! just reverse the procedure for installing the pump back in the boat and you are good to go. Oh and for anyone that was paying attention to the parts list you will notice we have one zip tie left over......thats for tyeing up the clear over flow tube back to the fuel line like it was when we began

I agree the vanes on the impeller should be installed in the correct direction of rotation and that's how I always do it,why wouldn't you.I had people telling me it didn't matter so one day I took down a spare pump I had just to find out.My pump had the 2 piece body so I was able to leave the end with the hose hook ups on it off so I could view the impeller.I purposely put the impeller in with the vanes in the wrong direction.I turned it over and in one revolution they were all turned in the correct direction. When the vanes pass the larger area in the body where they don't have hardly any tension on them they flip right back.Really pissed me off cause daredevil was right!!
