Got the diode kit with the switch, so I'm good to go.... Going to pick up some splicers today and get this finished!

There must be a latching relay somewhere in the circuit. My guess is that the toggle switch is a common momentary switch like Specre mentioned. This means, the toggle can be easily replaced with a momentary rocker switch with the same or greater capacity.
