I've been told the B-max lower is slower due to HP loss from the large gears.

The Bmax lower uses the same gears as all the rest. The upper has bigger gears, and some claim it eats some HP, but in my tests the real disadvantage is the 1.3 ratio the Bmax comes with. Bmax is in the process of developing a new lower with larger gears and a higher ratio. Hopefully I will have on in the spring and all my drive issues will be over.
