Istill say it sounds like iac

what would cause the iac to go bad? anything else to look at while in shop?

IAC or vacuum leak. Sometimes the IAC motors just go bad. Does not necessarily indicate another problem. The fact that the RPM is increasing is a good thing. When you hear the IAC screaming and RPM does not increase, you got yourself another problem.

changed iac and that did not solve it. any ideas?

heres an idea have someone hook a cds to it !!!! not to be a smart ass but its cheaper then replacing parts and guessing when you replaced the iac where did you set it at????

it is at the dealership. It is under warranty. They and mercury racing seem to be having a tuff time figuring it out. They changed the iac and mercury just sent a new o ring set for pleniums. They have had the boat two weeks, my boating summer is ending. I thought maybe someone on here had some idea or had this problem before.

fixed, Turned out to be the intake gasket leaking.
