I would not use Fram for that beautiful boat of yours. There have been several studies posted on OSO about the best filters. Napa/WIX Racing and Mobil 1 come out on top or close to the top each time.

Sounds like you have a big engine that needs lots of flow.

The HP seriers Fram filters are excellent flowing filters...but if you cut one open the same cheap cardboard upper lining is evident.

I would suggest taking a look at a K&N. It filters well and flows really good. It may be the best choice if you need "big flow". There is always a trade off between trapping and flow.
Wix Racing is very good as well.

The Mercury Racing FIlters are real good filters....not to be confused with the "Mercruiser" filters which are great flowing and low filtering units.

The Merc Hp or Racing filters have a nice trapping and flow balance. Merc did a nice job here...we are not totally sure who makes them for Merc. Somebody suggested a while back that the weld points matched the Mobil-1 almost perfectly. M-1's are made by Champion labs.

Yuppers...the Fram flows a ton and has a very high burst pressure....the K & N Gold is a filter which has a cotton element...does a better job of filtering but does not quite have the flow the Fram racing does.

Many very high output engines that cost thousands use the Fram Racing because of flow requirements.

My only question is why not go with a dual filtration system and accomplish both if you are going to spend that kind of money?

The Amsoil Marine dual remote oil filtration system flows very well and filters down to one micron. I like the set up...what do you experts think?

My take is you could potentially go a lot longer between oil changes as it removes moisture and very tiny particles.

Using a "premium synthetic oil"...my best guess would be that for a "stock" non-blower motor...you could go 60-75 hours between changes. It also adds 1-2 qts to your oil volume.

You blower guys get too much gasoline in your oil to extend much beyond 10 hour chnages... but this may help remove gasoline to some degree. So it's still a consideration.

It's about a $320.00 system for two engines.

This is standard equiptment on many diesel engines; large commercial equiptment etc...not something new. It is what I would be running...if not from Amsoil then from another company.
