Default Hyd Pressure Fitting Leaks

I just installed an IMCO Full Hyd helm unit with the manifold to use both pumps. Not too bad of an install. I checked all of the fittings and bled the system on the hose. Great, No leaks.

I took the boat out for about two hours running it up to WOT a couple of times, but generally keeping in in the upper 3K range. Looked in the back and found that some of the fittings were leaking. None had come loose, but they seemed to be leaking around the hose end fittings. Any ideas on how to seal them once and for all????

Which fittings? Were they NPT (pipe thread) or the flare fittings? NPT fittings will seal well with blue Loctite or teflon paste the flare fittings need to have clean mating surfaces because they seal on the mating surfaces and not on the threads.

The fittings are the AN type fittings that are designed for the rubber coated braided hp hose. They are two piece items that have an outside collar that threads onto the hose C/Clockwise then the inside metal tube screws into the collar. this tube has the nut on it that attaches to the AN fitting.

Did you install the AN fittings on the hose? AN fittings should be lightly oiled on threads before assy.

Yup, did that.

Called IMCO (great help BTW!) The shop I ordered my system from screwed up and gave me a non-Merc manifold, so, thinking I had the right parts, I cut the stock pressure lines from the pumps and put the IMCO ends on. Well, that hose is wrong for those ends. IMCO stepped up even though it was not their fault and are sending a fix.

Great cust service imho.
