Fuel Injection retrofit

I've got a 555" N/A carb motor with a little over 600 hp, and I am considering converting to EFI this winter. Can a late 90's Mercury EFI be modified to work properly with this engine? I've got a good amount of experience with automotive EFI, but not marine. Any help would be appreciated. Toolz

Yes, if you build the engine around the fuel injection, instead of building the engine and then trying to adapt the FI system to it. Big inch engines are good canidates for factory efi set ups (ie: tuned runner) because of this systems limitations with higher rpms and a better idle quality...cam timing being equal of course.

MAG502NUM -

Are you talking the Black engine EFI system or the Blue engine EFI? I have wondered if my 502 mag could at rebuild time feasibly be made into a 540 similar to what toolz is doing with good EFI results.

I used the factory (2000 efi mpi 502 ) efi system to make 950hp/ft lbs tq w/procharger on a 540,people say its not big enough for a 540 but i disagree. Do a search for my efi thread,Smitty
