ignition problem

hi,
i bought a set of ss comp guages last week and installed them today
boat is a 87 baja sport 240 merc 454

problem, when i changed the guages now the boat won't start.
no spark
manual says to check for batt volt at + side of the coil.
i've got 1.2v????
it says if no voltage check wiring.
any idea why 1.2 volts??
there are 2 purple(ign) wires that were connected to old guages.
1 has 12.5 volts(small connector org,prpl,& blk wires)
1 comes from the harness (1.2 volts)
any ideas??
thanks

Re: ignition problem

Check to make sure you didn't pull any wires off the ignition switch or maybe blew a fuse. Start with all the easy things first...

Re: ignition problem

chaces are you didnt re-install one of the ignition leads.

should be as follows:
red into ignition switch
purple ou to merc harness, and to guages

maybe you missed a jumper
