Default Help... waterflow

I have no waterflow out the exhaust while running at idle. Is the thermo stuck or has my impeller crapped out? I have had some temp fluctuationes in the past, but supposedly the impellerv and housing were replaced in my lower unit less than 1 1/2 years ago and it has minimal use on it since then.

Probably the impeller. You should still have water flow out the exhaust even if the thermostat is fully closed.

I agree, probably impeller. If it's impeller, be sure to find all the missing pieces which can be found in the aft section of the oil cooler. I've seen people kill a new impeller by hooking the motor up to a hose and reving the motor which can suck the hose shut, thus running the impeller dry.... it doesn't take much dry time to kill those things.... They are easy to change, just use a lot of lube when you put the new impeller in and go to the new housing if you have an older unit. New housing has just an O ring whereas the old style has a few gaskets, not sure if they even sell the old style anymore.... 90 bucks for new housing which includes housing, wearplate, impeller and small O ring. Be sure you mark the hoses before you take anything apart. Good luck!

Sittign is worse for an impeller then running, they take a set and dry up and the first time you start it the vanes break off.
