Mike- I always seem to go south, but I'm always game for a new place. We take a family vacation every summer, and try to go to a different place each year. Do you know of any resorts that have a big house (or 2) that can handle 25 people? Please let me know if you do.
Ray- I'll search the threads to see what I can find. Thanks again.

Toolz, trailering your boat up there is worth the trip---the water clearity is awesome and the scenery is great. Lots of great boating up there!
If you really want to nail down a cam for your engine CID, and application/combination then rmbuilder or Cstraub are good cam tech guys.

Johnny- Ran across that thread a while back, but it was good reading it again. Thanks. I think I've decided on the Morel hydraulics. I'm not going to end up with much over .600 lift and around 5600 rpm max, so I think it makes the most sense. Still need to decide on a cam. I've used CamMotion for the custom cams in my drag cars, and was very pleased every time. Anybody used them in a boat? Thanks again.

On solid lifter cams it is imperitive to break in the cam and lifters. You should always use a moly or approved break in lube generously on the lifters and the cam itself. When the engine is first started, it needs to be run continously at about 2000 rpms for about 10-15 minutes. This actually sets a proper crown wear point on the cam and lifter that match and keep the cam from cutting metal off the lifter face or cam. If solid lifter cam and lifter is not done correctly it many times will destroy solid lifter faces and cam lobes and the resulting metal particles can get into lifter bores and really mess things up. Another item sometimes overlooked in engine builups is properly preparing lifter bores and checking for proper lifter to bore clearances. Not saying either of these procedures are responsible for your loss, just trying to educate boaters who spec. and have their engines built that great engine building comes from attention to detail. Anybody can do the big things, in an engine its the details that count!
