Engine Build Up Question
I have twin 454 efi mags with 385hp,I would like to get 500 to 550 hp out of them. I want to stay with efi.
Some idea's I have are: Raise compression from 8.5 to 10:1
Bigger cam/roller
Port heads
Aluminum heads
Dry sump system (worth aprox 30hp)
Is staying with the efi a bad idea, does it limit things.

Im guessing you would have to ditch the EFI, go with a bigger roller cam, some headwork, roller rockers, good intakes, and a 850 holley. 10.1 sounds high especially if you stay with iron heads.
Im sure the builders will help you more than I can. Maybe you could just supercharge them.

I thought you said dry sumps were worth 50 HP, I guess the voice of knowledge set you straight on that I think you should save your money for a tow vehicle, it's pretty hard to use that extra horsepower in your driveway! What a dreamer, get off the computer and get to work for a change. Have a nice weekend! Steve

Re: Engine Build Up Question
The easiest way to see that HP is to go aspirated and do some port work to the heads and a cam change. With good port work and a nice cam it would not be hard to get as much as 650+hp. If you are interested in doing this let me know.

An EFI supercharged (Procharger M1 SC, etc.)will put you where you want to HP wise and can be dependable on pump gas.
If you are considering further modifications a M3 SC would be a better option because of the larger intercooler (I havn't met to many people that get satisfied and don't consider additional modifications a year or so later).
As to EFI in with a modified supercharged motor I beleive that a well set up motor with the proper injectors, fuel system, and ECM re-map is an awsome set-up. It takes some homework as to the proper injectors, fuel system, ECM Re-map etc. Make sure you have a good tuner and builder that can work together, at the end of the day you need the combination of good parts and good smarts to keep it off the trailer.

A m3 kit from Pro Charger is a nice kit and if you only run 5psi of boost no remap is necessary. But make sure the bottom is strong before installing.

The voice of knowledge told me not to go with it ,he did not quote a hp,his engine builder well enough said.. You know with the motors out I will have to do some mods to the motors
With friends like you and brian why buy a truck.
Get back to work?I'am following your lead.
