Re: B&M 172 Blower?
Gary, I am not very familiar with blowers. Eric at "The Blower Shop" gave me that info. He said the polished version was a 172 and the black one was a 177. Does that sound correct?

Re: B&M 172 Blower?
The B&M was a 174 blower and the Weiand is a 177 blower. Weiand made the 177 blower that was used on the merc 525 package that is painted black. The polished Weiand 177 blower is the same blower except for the merc 525 blower has the dominator top instead of the 4150 carb top, and the merc 525 has a splined mainshaft and top pulley were the Weiand has a keyed shaft and pulley.
Your best bet is to try and find a used 525 blower as it sounds like you are trying to replace a damaged blower. The Weiand/Holley 177 blower should work but you will have to use an adapter to mount the dominator carb that came on the Merc 525 package. Your are also not going to find the same size top pulley that came on the 525 package. Merc used a 3.375" dia. top pulley and the only available keyed pulleys are 3.250" or 3.500" dia.
Hope this helps,
Ron
