After hitting an underwater stump I pulled the lower unit on my 20" ProMax 300 and sure enough I sheared the upper driveshaft. A new one costs $570 thru BAM. Anyone know where I could get a used one? Merc part # 45-848832A1. The shaft is 14" long.
Thanks, TJ

MM - I dont see where the upper driveshaft has an oil seal. The lower one does - the one that sticks up out of the lower unit. I need the shaft between that one and the bottom of the power head.

Thanks anyway MM and by the way - thanks for all of your help in the past. I did get the props you recommended and liked them so much I got another pair at a lower pitch for cruising and acceleration. The folks at ThrottleUp are great. Ive had the boat up to 75 GPS and then ran out of lake. There is alot more there which I am anxious to check out but am taking baby steps to feel out the boat. The boat cuts thru 2' chop like its not there. It corners alot different than Im used to so I do that much slower. Major work this winter - lengthening the cockpit 3', changing helm to starboard side, and adding about 12 gauges. Should be pretty hot by next spring.
