hey superdave,i don't think that i'd want to use that cheesy plastic imitation stainless steel hose- kinda tricky the way they got it to look almost like the real thing. i'm talking the stuff that i've used before on some boiler mainfolds, still only 160 psi and 190 degrees. let me know why its better or worse than the regular rubber hose i currently have between my thermostat housing and my headers. jeff

well that does sound better. Can you get brass or stainless ends? I would think you would not want to use steel ends, salt or not.
Can you post the name and part number? I'd like to check it out.

As far as the plastic braid on the sink hose. It still should work ok. Heck, my house has 85 psi of water pressure. That's way more then a cooling system in a boat. And look at the race lite hose. It has a fabric braiding with a much lower pressuer rating but way more then ya need on a cooling system.

Of course seeing as I sell the real CPE Stainless braided hose I'd rather see ya use that! But I do have to say I eye ball all the other hose I see at Bell Pipe and Supply when I'm doing the dreaded home plumbing repair.

Thats what I used to think...I did a couple that way and the rest with the good stuff its pretty close in cost after you get all the fittings and all. Save your money and Go for the good stuff buy a little at a time that way it doesnt hurt as much!!!

i guess that i forgot to mention that this hose comes with brass fittings on the end (NPT). of course the local hydraulic supply house or my aeroquip dealer will get the bulk of the work for trim lines, fuel lines, oil lines etc. i seem to remember that the manufacturer was something like landen industries in santa ana calif. again, any thoughts why this would be worse than the rubber hoses that i currently am using for the cooling system? thanks for all the input so far.
