how do you get a stuck rubber hub out of a prop?
I bought a new set of props for the boat, and they had a rubber style insert in them. I didnt pay attention when i put them in, as i use the solid type. Well one of them spun out at 70, i got it back to the house, pulled the props, and the one that spun, the rubber came out in pieces. The other was in tact, but twisted in there. How do you get it out? I got a piece of pipe that fit in there and beat it with a sledge and no luck. would heating and burning the rubber out with a torch work, or mess up the prop.
Im stuck.

If you are referring to the Flo Torque 2 plastic insert it can be a little difficult to get out.
We use a press to remove them but there are some other ways that may help;
One option is to break it up with a chisel from the aft end of the prop. Be careful, they become very brittle and pieces will fly at high velocity. It will help to heat it up a little with a propane torch.

That is the classic rubber hub, it really is not a DIY job. Murder to get out, then you need a fixture and hydraulic press to get the new one in, and it won't handle the power when you are done. Unless you have an Alpha drive (which requires a non-solid hub) it would be best to find someone who can weld a solid insert in there.

I need to post a pic for you. It is the flo-torque hub system, that normally slides in and out. Ive never seen this rubber kind before. Ill post a pic tonight. I have the solid flo-torques to put back in it. Like i said, ive only ever seen the plastic and solid, never a rubber type flo-torque.

I think you will find it is not a Flo-Torque
