#6's or Bravo style drives?
I am about to put together a 36 Daytona with 700-800HP. I want to be very dependable. I know I will lose some ponies turning the #6's (anyone know how much?) but I think they should be bulletproof. If IMCO SC's or others will stay together I would rather run them but I don't want to regret it later.

Re: #6's or Bravo style drives?
#5's will hold up no problem and you can get em a lot cheaper than the 6's. you wont hurt em with 800hp alot of guys are putting 1000-1100hp through em. plus you dont have to go through a #5 as often as a #6

#6 and be done, although a #5 will hold up

Re: #6's or Bravo style drives?
Bravos are only dependable @ 700hp tops, do your self a favor and go with dry sump # 6s.
We run Max Machine on our 850hp Gun and as easy as we are on the sticks we can count on being stranded a few times a summer, or every 15 to 40hrs and they use the strongest parts available. The internals are just to small to consistently handle bigger power. It will work, but not for long. Good Luck! |

Why would it have to be a cat? I have seen quite a few V's running them with sucsess........ |
Re: #6's or Bravo style drives?
Are they still making parts for the #5's?

However, you are right many v-hulls work well with ASDs...but some hulls it might not be a good match if alot of bow lift is needed. |
Re: #6's or Bravo style drives?
If I was rigging from new I'd go with the #6's one time. You wont be worried about breaking it every time you go out. You'll probably save money in the long run from all the repairs and you will have better resale value for sure than you will with an aftermarket drive. If you're worried about scrubbing a couple of miles an hour than stick your motor in a tiny v-drive and haul a$$.................
