BBB .... there is truth to waht you say about Merc .... God help em if someone every starts selling marine motors and parts half way resonable ....

Actually, the whole point is that dielectric grease does not conduct. It is waterproof and a corrosion inhibitor.

If used on a clean connection it stops tracking and corrosion allowing the metal parts to stay in contact.

Vaseline is ok for some apps, but does not stand heat and probably does not have the dielectic strength of the grease.

Autozone sells an aerosol can that is a much better buy than the small packets

my bad .... just seems filling plug caps with DG would prevent good contact ..... I have seen Vasoline used on battery post and after a time it dries out and doesnt do the job .....
