Re: how much hp will a bw 72c handle

Actually 7 is stock, 11 is currently the most we can fit. Along with mods to the case, pump & hydraulic circuit our dry sump unit has handled 1500 HP, but it is touch and go at that power level. Mercury is using them on the 1075 with good success. Actually we did a pair for Nortech a few years ago that went behind 2 850's coupled together on a side, V 16's. Those boy's are always pushing the envelope.

I'll be happy to answere any questions.

Absolutely not. No cooler, no check valve. We want them as cool as possible.

And NO synthetic fluid. It's too slippery.

Ratman, Marinetrans hooked me up with mine
I slam them pretty good with the Arnesons and
ten lbs. of boost and they took it.

I will be really testing them next season.

If you blow a drive and it locks up, you will tweak the tranny !
This happened to my friend. I forget the model number, but, Paul at LI marine trans. showed us the differences in the cases and the gears inside. Go with the unit with the bigger planetaries. I think it was 10-18 something. They machine the steels on a surface grinder, so they can add more plates and steels. This results in a higher co-effiency of friction. They do other mods. as well. LI marine trans. built some great trannys. Get the trannys done as it will be so easy with the motors out, and then you wont have to worry, Unless you are sure they can take the ponies.

mbam, mark if i send em to you what would you charge to open em up and inspect them? the guy i bought the boat from had em done four hours of use before i bought the boat the guy put in special plates and he said they were good for 1100hp. i should make a 1000+ and dont want any down time this season for a tranny r&i, but dont want to spend money that isnt needed. so what would the labor be to open em and inspect only vs what you would charge to go through em and make em safe at say 1100hp with wet sump. how much more does it cost to make em dry sump and what is the advantage? thx mark, ratman
