Stock Air/Fuel ratio for 496HO?

Does anyone know what Merc has the A/F ratio set at for the stock 496HO at WOT? I see lots of soot on the tail end after a hard run.

It seems amazing that nobody knows what the stock A/F ratio for a 496HO is.

Try running 87 octane. Other people that have complained about soot just started running 87 and the soot problem goes away.

I am running 87 octane. What octane were the other guys you mention running?
