Have anyone upgraded the came in their Hawk 525SCīs for a little more power ? What is a good came to use ? realiability is still a very important factor. Looking for maby 550 HP and chillers are not an option !

I'm not sure what cams the hawk 525's use, but I put a Crane 731 roller cam in my Merc 525sc. Picked up about 150rpms and midrange is much stronger.

I belive the Merc 525SC runs lower compression. The Hawk engine as far as I know is just a 420 with a blower on top.

Both Hawk and Merc run lower compression on their 525SC.
The Hawk is a little more conservative. Timing is set at 26 total.
Try a smaller blower pulley without changing the timing. I ran the next size smaller and got about 6.5psi. Estimated hp was around 560hp. You definitely need 92+ octand with that, but you probably will with anything that gets you in that hp range.

I'm also running a smaller pulley with 7# boost with no cooler. Always 92 or 93 octane. Its jetted rich to be on the safe side. Timing is set at 34* at full advance.

Can I assume you are running this set up in a single engine 28' Pantera? How does it handle the rough water? currently have a 31' with twins I use at LOTO but I like the idea of a solid single engine 28' with a blower.

I'd say its as good of a ride as you can get in a 28, but its still a 28. The boat is tough and can handle any of the water at LOTO. I've was in a 353 Formula last year at LOTO and the ride was much better. It was still rough, but much better. There is no substitute for weight and length in the rough.

Anyone running a crane Hi-6 with the timing curve they have for that motor? Base timing is 13 with 35 total. I'm thinking about getting one for my 525 SC and retaining the original distributer.

IMHO, 13 is too little initial on a blower motor and 35 is too much.
The Tbolt IV V6 box gives about 20 initial, 30 total. Perfect.

13 base/35* total is what Merc specs ares. Mine has 450hrs on the bottom and I redid the top half at 350hrs. It has plenty of power down low and does not need more timing. The full advance does not come in until 4500rpms. I see no reason to set it any differently.
