Default Common hydraulic pump??

Was just wondering if there wouldn't be an advantage to going to a common hydraulic pressure bank to run the trim/tabs/engine hatch etc. With every individual component having there own pump and resevoir doesn't that add alot of weight? A common pump and resevoir could easily service all these cylinders and all it would take is a small electric over hydraulic valve bank. Has anyone seen this or is it not a functional idea?
