I have emailed you several times but guess you can't afford to pay. Looks like it costs me money to give you a carb. I would be happy if you mail it back.

I've got an HP500 carb that was dyno'd on a 540CID that made 630HP. He did not use it because he did not have a mate to it so traded it for for a set of 850HP's. If interested PM me.

I had an 850 on my 540. 600 hp @ 5700 rpm. Jetting was 88s all around. Plugs were a perfect tan color.

As a heads up, It seems KCHOTBOAT sent him a carb, never got any money, and this person won't respond back. Therefore I wouldn't offer him anything at this point.

This is an old thread that KCHOTBOAT brought back TTT.

He is refering to hyp540, not the thread starter.

BTW, it shows hyp540 was on the board on 7-15-06. Obviously, he has not responded to this thread.

Send Rich his stuff back or send him the money.

Please bear in mind that Barry Grant (Demon) rates their carbs based on wet flow, unlike Holley (other that the Ultra/ HP series) and this results in the Demon being a higher flowing carb when compared to a similarly rated Holley. Besides, it's a superior quality than the regular Holleys at a comparable price.
The Annular version has much better bottom end response and the Down-leg may have a few horsepower advantage on the very top. My preference is the Annular. I have one on my 509 and it has EFI-like throttle response.
Either version is available from Jegs for $574.99, which is a good price when you consider all the features you get - like tunable air bleeds ( a Holley Hp is like $650-750+ and the Ultra series is like nearly $1,000!).
The Demon carb even comes with a tuning instruction manual and DVD. Besides, it's better to buy a new carb, that way you know what you're getting. BTW: Make sure you buy the correct fuel inlet fittings (9/16" X 24 thread - if memory serves) for the Demon, because they're different from the regular Holley
Just my $0.02...
I bought one of BG 850 for my 454 and it ended up causing nothing but problems. It would cause the engine to misfire, run lean in cyl 1&4 and wouldn't pass 4500rpms. Put on my old Holley 850 and worked perfectly never ever again am I ever touching BG. Sent the BG 850 back, BG ended up doing a rebuild instead of just sending a brand new one (Great customer servie I guess) I finally told my retailer to just give me credit and to return the BG carb. Not sure if this would have fixed the problem but BG was claiming that the 850 was big CFM for the 454 and that their 750 model would have done the trick. Sounds odd to me, why go from a holley 850 over to a BG 750 ??!?? LOL.

I bought a BG King Demon 1090 when I put on a Whipple. They nailed the jetting right out of the box!! Motor idles great and motor barely bogs when shifting and runs great all the way up to 5900 rpm.

I tried a Holly Dominator and couldn't even get the boat to plane! Probably being from Nickerson had something to do with it too

Stated airflow is not always correct. Plus, it's not always tested the same. Just as the post you quoted states.
