I am concerned myself that the 24s act as a speed brake....depends on how high they can be lifted in the full up position. I know the Merc k-Planes can be pulled up and away from the water even on a boat with a nose-up attitude. |

Re: 24" tabs on a 27 foot boat?
I would go with the 24". I had the short ones on my 28' Checkmate and always wished that I had the longer plates. It was hard to keep the boat down in real rough water.

Re: 24" tabs on a 27 foot boat?
My checkmate is 26' and came with 280S tabs. I replaced them with 380S tabs last year and the difference is amazing. Unless they drag, theres nothing too long IMO.

Re: 24" tabs on a 27 foot boat?
I have heard longer tabs are usually FASTER because they are more effective when you do use them, they can be ran parallel to the water just touching when landing in water or bouncing compared to a short bennet tab digging in water to be effective at all,Smitty

I've seen everything from 14" to 28" on a 27. Most of out customers opt for a 22 to 24' tab on this size boat. Basically a 280 K-Plane size. Fred Trick Marine 866 921 4553 www.trickmarine.net |
